Group Quran competition underway in Karbala
The fourth edition of a national Quran competition among teams of Quran activists is underway at the holy shrine of al-Abbas, peace be upon him, in Karbala, Iraq.
According to Al-Kafeel website, it has been organized by the Center for Training Quran Reciters and Memorizers affiliated to the Quran Institute of the holy shrine.
The competition began on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan on May 17 and will continue for 15 days.
Sayyid Hussein Hulw, head of the center, said that the Quranic event is organized in line with the programs of the shrine in the holy month of Ramadan.
He said that each group of the participants comprises a Quran reciter, a memorizer and one familiar with interpretation of the Quran.
He noted that each group represents a province of the country. Four groups compete in every day of the national event.
A committee of experts in different Quranic fields including Sowt, Lahn, interpretation, Waqf, Ibtida and Quran memorization, supervise the competition.
